The 4-County CWMA has four active committees that work on various aspects of collaborative weed management. We welcome and encourage new members to participate. See below for more information on how you can join our efforts.
The Steering Committee is the governing body of the 4-County CWMA. Steering Committee members are representatives from our partner organizations and are elected into their roles. The Steering Committee meets a minimum of four times a year.
Goals and Objectives:
Ensure the smooth operation of the 4-County CWMA.
Secure stable funding, staffing and other resources.
Assist committees in carrying out their work.
The Education and Outreach Committee coordinates outreach efforts among weed management practitioners from across the region. We co-create outreach materials and provide a space for sharing outreach techniques and learning from one other.
Goals and Objectives:
Maintain a space for sharing and discussing outreach techniques relating to invasive species management.
Create opportunities for natural resource management professionals to discuss the latest invasive species management research and strategies.
Cultivate the 4-County CWMA’s online and print resources.
We are working on the following projects:
Planning and hosting the Pull Together symposium.
Coordinating the 4-County CWMA’s Field Day.
Curating the 4-County CWMA’s Weed Management Resources.
Maintaining the 4-County CWMA website.
We meet 4-5 times per year and maintain an email list to coordinate our activities.

The Mapping & Data Committee puts your invasive plant data to work. Our mission is to reduce the costs and increase the effectiveness of invasive species management in the 4-County region through coordinated prioritization, analyses, and communication.
We envision a robust data network made up of CWMA partners and other land managers. Working together, we provide access to invasive species data and maps relevant to invasive species control efforts.
We share information about new technologies and evolving trends in invasive species management. The mapping and data committee promotes data standardization and the use of reliable data collection platforms.
Goals and Objectives:
Maintain a forum for information sharing.
Increase data contributions.
Improve data quality.
Increase access to weed distribution maps.
We are working on the following projects:
Coordinating priority weed management including data review and map creation.
Standardizing data collection across the 4-County CWMA.
Promoting invasive species reporting databases like Oregon iMapInvasives, EDDMapS, and other platforms.
We meet 4-5 times per year and maintain an email list to coordinate our activities.

The Technical and Scientific Review Committee watches for new invasive species, discusses management concerns, and provides a variety of technical insights. We develop resources to assist natural resource management professionals manage invasive species using the most effective, efficient, and environmentally-sensitive management strategies.
Goals and Objectives:
Develops, reviews and updates the 4-County CWMA’s Weed List, a compilation of targeted plant species from around the Portland metro region.
Provides best management practice information.
Researches, discusses, and informs members of emerging scientific issues.
Advises mapping and data committee with weed prioritization lists.
We are working on the following projects:
Curating the 4-County CWMA’s Weed List.
Reviewing and updating the Integrated Weed Maintenance Calendar.
Developing the 4-County CWMA’s Weed Management Resources.
We meet 4-5 times per year and maintain an email list to coordinate our activities.
